Why It Matters

What's living in your mattress.

The average adult sweats about a quart of moisture per night and sheds approximately 1.5 grams of dead skin. Over the 7-8 year lifespan of a typical mattress, that adds up to gallons of moisture and pounds of skin cells absorbed into the layers. Dust mites feed on the skin cells — a primary source of indoor allergens.

Sheets and mattress protectors help but don't stop everything. Sweat, body oils, and microscopic debris still soak through over time. Professional mattress cleaning removes residue and significantly reduces allergen load.

If you wake up congested, your mattress is more than three years old, you have pets that sleep with you, or anyone in the household has allergies or asthma, a professional mattress clean is one of the highest-impact things you can do for indoor air quality.

Our Mattress Cleaning Process

01

HEPA Vacuum

Deep HEPA vacuuming pulls dust mites, dead skin, and allergens out of the surface and seams before any moisture is introduced.

02

Pre-Treat & Spot

We pre-treat stains and high-use zones, applying enzyme treatment to any sweat, urine, or organic stains present.

03

Low-Moisture Extraction

Controlled-moisture hot extraction sanitizes and lifts residue without over-wetting — critical for foam and hybrid mattresses.

04

Deodorize & Dry

We deodorize and set up airflow for fast drying. Most mattresses are dry within 4-6 hours and ready for sleep that night.

Mattress Cleaning FAQ

How often should mattresses be professionally cleaned? add
For most people, professional mattress cleaning every 6-12 months keeps allergen levels down and the surface fresh. Every 6 months is ideal if you have allergies or asthma, pets that sleep on the bed, or anyone in the home who sweats heavily at night. Between professional cleanings, vacuuming the mattress monthly and using a washable mattress protector helps. If you wake up congested or your mattress is more than three years old and has never been cleaned, it is well worth a professional clean.
Can JMP remove urine stains from a mattress? add
Yes, in most cases. We apply an enzymatic treatment that breaks down the uric acid in urine, then use controlled-moisture extraction to lift it out without over-saturating the mattress. Fresh accidents come out most completely; old, deeply set urine that has soaked through multiple layers may lighten significantly rather than disappear entirely. We will inspect the mattress and give you an honest expectation before we begin, and the treatment also neutralizes the odor, not just the visible stain.
Will my mattress be wet after cleaning? add
No — your mattress will be slightly damp, not wet. We use a low-moisture process designed specifically for mattresses, with strong extraction that removes most of the moisture as we go. Mattresses are typically dry within 4-6 hours in normal conditions. We recommend cleaning earlier in the day so it is fully dry by bedtime, and we can position a fan or open windows to speed drying. We never soak a mattress, because trapped moisture is what causes mildew.
Does JMP clean memory foam mattresses? add
Yes. Memory foam and other specialty foams need a careful low-moisture approach because foam holds water and is slow to dry if over-wet. We adjust our method to surface-clean and sanitize memory foam, hybrid, and latex mattresses safely, using minimal moisture and strong extraction. The same applies to pillow-top and Euro-top mattresses. Tell us your mattress type when you book so we bring the right setup and set proper expectations for dry time.
Can you treat bed bug infestations? add
No — bed bug eradication requires a licensed pest control company, and we will always refer you to one if we see signs of an active infestation. Mattress cleaning removes dust mites, allergens, sweat residue, and stains, and it sanitizes the surface, but it is not a treatment for bed bugs. Once a pest control professional has cleared an infestation, we are happy to come in afterward to deep-clean and refresh the mattress as part of your recovery.
